Polar Bear Lounge
The lounge is temporarily closed due to a dispute with the local musicians union. We thought it reasonable that since the sun only came up once in the period November through January, that the band should get no less than a full day's wage at union scale. The union is intransigent in its position that since some overtime may be involved, musicians should be paid for at least a day and a half. - With obstinacy like this backing them, can you imagine how hard it is to find a band that will come and play for one lousy 'polar night'?
We don't want to push too hard in our negotiations with the union because of an unfortunate incident which was recently drawn to our attention. It seems that someone repeatedly pushed a submit button like the one on this page until it could take no more and struck back.
